La Fruitière Vinicole d’Arbois, a cooperative winery, was founded in 1906 by 26 winegrowers in Arbois to deal with the phylloxera crisis and competition from low-quality wines. It was one of the first cooperative wineries in France and played a key role in obtaining the first French AOC for Arbois wines in 1936. In 1969, the cooperative acquired Château Béthanie, equipped for winemaking of the five Jura grape varieties, and where modern pressing and winemaking facilities are located. Since 2005, it has also hosted the Fruitière Vinicole de Poligny, located in a former church, offering a unique historical setting for vinification and wine tasting.
Arbois is a historic town located in the Jura, known for its heritage and as the country of Louis Pasteur. It is characterized by its fortified past, its vineyards, and its status as a Small Comtoise Town of Character and Remarkable Site of Taste. You can visit sites such as Pasteur's house, the vine and wine museum, and the Saint-Just Church. Arbois wines, famous since Roman times, benefit from an AOC and are produced from typical Jura grape varieties. The city is also famous for its cultural and historical commitment, as evidenced by its tourist labels and annual events.

The Arbois vineyard, located in the Jura, is known for its clay-limestone marl hillsides, a legacy of the seas of the secondary era, which create an exceptional wine-growing terroir. La Fruitière Vinicole d'Arbois operates 250 hectares of vines, divided between the Poulsard, Pinot Noir, Trousseau, Chardonnay and Savagnin grape varieties, in an approach to viticulture that respects the environment and sustainable cultivation. The techniques include mechanical soil management, grassing of plots and the use of organic fertilizers. Each grape variety flourishes on a specific type of soil, contributing to the diversity and quality of Arbois wines.
The cellars managed by Fruitière Vinicole d’Arbois are a striking example of the dedication and passion of local winegrowers. Facilities include a modern winery within the old castle grounds and a special cellar for vin jaune, making the cooperative one of Savagnin's leading producers. The winemaking and aging methods, including aging Savagnin under yeast for six years to produce vin jaune, guarantee exceptional wines. State-of-the-art equipment, such as temperature-controlled vats and pneumatic presses, supports the production of various types of wine, all reflecting the unique terroir of the Jura and meeting the expectations of wine lovers.
